Oh Happy Days!

Meet Happy Guy! by my daughter Sophie. Any time you start to feel sad, just remember this guys little face, hat, his kookie ears - he's sure to put a smile on your face!

And speaking of smiles - Miss Mindy and I just found out we are doing the Pop:Femme Show in Santa Fe New Mexico again this year! So, we are off to a good start! Here are some other upcoming event details:

New York, this print publisher has its inventory online and offers prints on
paper and canvas! Check out the site!

CJ Metzger's Book "The Secret Live's of Dolls" is available for purchase online through the BLURB.com website. It may be small (7"x7") but it's full of whimsical portraits that will make your heart ache and swoon.

POP Surreal Divas present original work in 2D and 3D for our 2nd Annual POP Femme Sugar Coated Strange Event to kick off the 2009 season. Reception with the artists Memorial weekend---Silent Art Auction to benefit Southwest C.A.R.E. Center which serves New Mexicans living with HIV and AIDS without prejudice, Auction opens 5-23-09 and closes 6-28-09.

Roster of talent under construction but does include Kathie Olivas, Artist Sisters CJ Metzger & Miss Mindy, Stephanie Roberts, Carrie Ann Baade, Marie Sena, Valery Milovic and Julie West among others.

CJ's Annual Open Studio Dec. 13th

Miss Mindy and I will be hosting our Annual Holiday Open Studio next Saturday, December 13th from 5-10 at our communal studio space in Glendale, California.

It's an eclectic and surreal kind of place that houses not only my work, but art by my entire family! (My grandmother and grandfather were artists and illustrators in the 40's, 50's, 60's. Think Jim Flora, Raoul Dufy, mid century meets folk art).

We'll have new prints, ever-so-small arts and ornaments, new originals, books, stationary and more for sale. Come to visit, or come to shop. It's a no pressure environment!

Just to entice you even more, we'll be firing up our outdoor fire pit, and serving snacks, coffee, and peppermint hot cocoa!

Where the Wild Art is - Show this Thurs

Maurice Sendak is probably my favorite illustrator of all time, and I've had the honor to be included in a show of his work at The Wonderful World Art Gallery in Culver City! Come peruse some of his wonderfully detailed and super fantastic works and take a peek at my own artistic "creature" tribute! Reception is this Thursday night (Nov 13th) 7-10pm at 9517 Culver Boulevard, Los Angeles.

Well, the holidays are around the corner, and we are "nesting", making art, and gearing up for the holidays. This also means that Miss Mindy and I will be showing in a few local shows with small arts and prints - perfect for the holidays!

On Saturday Nov 22th 4-8pm, visit a tiny local group show curated by CJ titled "In Memory of Trees". Peruse artwork and prints by CJ Metzger, Miss Mindy and others, as well as the abundance of fair-trade treasures at the lovely - Regeneration - in Eagle Rock. (1649 Colorado Blvd. LA CA 90041)

Miss Mindy and I traveled to lovely Santa Fe for our Pop Femme show reception (and a little R&R) and I must say that my new favorite people on the planet are the owners of Pop Gallery in Santa Fe. They were divine and wonderful hosts! The reception was filled with people, balloons, champagne and chocolate - and jam packed with art by some pretty amazing women painters! Above from left to right is Julia Martin, Jessica Bea Hillis, me, Sophie (my daughter), Sharla Throckmorton-McDowell (Pop Gallery Owner), and my sis the ever colorful (in her red boots!) Miss Mindy.
